The UAE continues to attract global talent with its Golden Visa programme and competitive tax-free salaries. Emiratisation quotas are tightening, requiring private-sector companies with 50+ employees to increase Emirati headcount by 2% annually, driving demand for national talent development.
The UAE has no federal minimum wage, though sector-specific guidelines exist. The probation period is a maximum of 6 months under the 2022 Labour Law. Notice periods range from 14 to 90 days depending on the contract. The standard work week is 48 hours (8 hours/day), reduced to 36 hours during Ramadan.
The average monthly salary in the UAE is approximately AED 16,000 (USD 4,350). The highest-paying sectors are Oil & Gas (average AED 25,000), Finance & Banking (AED 22,000) and Technology (AED 20,000). Dubai and Abu Dhabi offer the highest compensation packages, often including housing and transport allowances.
The UAE has no personal income tax, making it one of the most attractive jurisdictions globally for take-home pay. A 9% corporate tax was introduced in 2023 but does not apply to employment income. Employees effectively take home 100% of their gross salary, though a 5% VAT applies to goods and services.
